Horror as automobile ‘drives into crowds’ at Christmas market busy with customers

One person is reported to have been killed after a car crashed into crowds of shoppers at a busy Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany.

At least one car crashed into the market in Magdeburg with several people injured, local outlet Volksstimme said. German government spokesman Matthias Schuppe confirmed there had been an incident, while Magdeburg police told news outlet MDR that at least one person has died.

“Several” people have been injured, reports say. Ambulances can be seen at the scene and people have been asked to leave the city centre.

Popular outlet BILD said eyewitnesses saw a car heading in the direction of the city town hall and that at least 20 people have been injured.
