Body Language expert Judi James believes Tyson Fury displayed a red flag during his fight against Oleksandr Usyk which ‘suggested he would lose’.

The Gypsy King was defeated for the second time in his professional career by the Ukrainian, who beat Fury earlier this year in Riyadh. Facing off in their rematch, Fury put in a decent performance against Usyk, but ultimately fell to the only boxer who has beaten him now in his professional career.

All three judges scored the fight in Usyk’s favour 116-112, delivering the 37-year-old a second successive win over Fury. And after having watched the fight back, body language expert James believes Fury showed off a red flag that ‘suggested he would lose’ to Usyk.

“Fury vanished from the ring and the world stage tonight after losing to Usyk, leaving a very emotional, almost tearful-looking Frank Warren to stand stabbing a finger at the scorecard in a display of disbelief,” said James, via BetUK.

“Fury had sacrificed everything for this fight: three months of his marriage; his reality TV good looks thanks to his grizzly beard; his dad’s support in his corner and even his affable, fun-loving persona.

“At the end of the battle he stood with one fist raised aloft in a signal of assumed victory that just looked like another part of the performance that was never really authentic.”

James added: “There was one key gesture though, that seemed to signal a motivational glitch or problem and which acted as a red flag in terms of his chances of winning this fight.

“A very chilling gesture of the puffing out of air as he got down to the business of the fight suggested he just wanted to get it over with, whereas successful boxers tend to look excited by and longing for the fight itself. Some of the best boxers have approached their fights looking like dogs pulling to get off the leash and get stuck in.”

Speaking after the fight, Fury said: “The judges gave him a Christmas gift. I feel like I won both fights. I know I had to knock him out but it’s boxing and this happens. There is no doubt in my mind I won this fight. Frank [Warren] had me three or four rounds up and a lot of people had me up by at least two.”

He added: “I’m not going to cry over spilled milk, it’s over now. I’ve been in boxing my whole life but I’ll always feel a little bit hard done by – not a little bit, a lot.”
