Escort discovered useless in Brit vacationer’s lodge room however he claims he ‘did not discover’ her
Bearach Beataidh, 71, was last seen with Duangta Khampongsom, 45, as he took her back to his bedroom at a guest house in Pattaya, eastern Thailand, on December 18
A British holidaymaker is under investigation following the death of a Thai escort who was discovered deceased in his hotel room. Police say she was dead for at least three days.
Bearach Beataidh, 71, was last spotted sharing a kiss and holding hands with Duangta Khampongsom, 45, as he led her to his bedroom at a guest house in Pattaya, Thailand’s ‘Sin City’, on December 18. She was never seen alive again but Bearach, hailing from County Down, Northern Ireland, was caught on CCTV leaving the room looking anxious four days later on December 22, say police.
Building supervisor Prayoon Chinsai, 57, alerted the police that morning when he detected a foul smell emanating from the room. When no one responded to his knock, he used a spare key to open the door only to discover the woman’s semi-naked, decomposing body on the bed.
Police arrived at the scene and located the Brit, who also possesses an Irish passport issued in Ireland, at a nearby bar. The man admitted he was aware of the body but hadn’t reported it to the police because he claimed he “did not know she was dead”.
Police Captain Puttharak Sonkhamhan of the Pattaya City Police Station stated that officers are probing further into Bearach’s comments.
Sonkhamhan said: “The woman had been dead for at least three days. Her body had started to decay and bloat, emitting a foul odour throughout the room. She was clad only in denim shorts and nothing on her upper body. A search of the room found no evidence of a struggle or ransacking.
“It would be difficult not to notice she was dead as her body was already decomposing. There was also fluid and blood on the bed.”

Police located the British pensioner drinking at a bar along Jomtien Beach. They said he appeared disoriented and bewildered when apprehended. CCTV footage obtained by police shows Duangta, dressed in a black shirt and white cap, walking with the tourist along the hotel corridor on the evening of December 18.
On December 22, Bearach was seen leaving the room alone and was caught on camera checking both ends of the hallway before heading towards a line of bars on the beach. He allegedly told police: “She kept vomiting and sleeping the whole time, but I did not think it was anything abnormal. I understood that she felt weak and exhausted. We last spoke on December 19.”
Bearach claimed he did not realise she had died “because there was no unusual smell” in the room. He denied causing harm or death to the deceased.
