Ebanie Bridges impressed former Playboy mannequin turned ring woman to take up boxing

EXCLUSIVE The Blonde Bomber Ebanie Bridges had a unique route in boxing – and she inspired a Playboy model turned ring girl to follow in her footsteps

Ebanie Bridges didn’t have a conventional route in boxing.

The Blonde Bomber grew up loving combat sports, but with women banned from stepping into the ring in Australia – she had to find new ways to get involved in the sport she loved.

The former IBF Bantamweight champion started out life as a ring, before she was able to transition into the ring – and it’s that move that has inspired others to try their hand at the sweet science.

“I’m always supporting the ring girls, because a lot of people don’t respect them. Even some of the other female fighters, they don’t give the ring girls much attention,” Bridges told Daily Star Sport .

“You know, obviously I’ve been there and and I also had a ring girl called Amber Fields, she’s in America who I inspired me to start boxing!

“She joined Misfits, and she said to me, she goes, ‘you know you inspired me so much because your were a ring girl, and now you World Champion made me want to start boxing’.

“For me being a ring girl, actually, when I then transitioned into actually fighting, I had so many fans from being a ring girl in Australia that they all followed my boxing career.

“It’s a gave me a good start!”

Bridges herself is away from the ring at the moment, announcing she’s expecting a baby next year.

Bridges, however, doesn’t just have her feet up while she awaits her impending arrival. She added: “I’m training. Training what I can and what I can do. Trying to keep myself fit and sane I’m in the gym.

“I’m training a friend. I’m training for her while prepping her for her fights as well, so helping others fighters as well. While I’m not in full force.

“I’ve got very itchy knuckles, and I’m wanting to get back into the ring big time.”
