Shocking second youths chase one another with machetes outdoors school in entrance of terrified bystanders

This is the shocking moment gangs of yobs chased each other armed with machetes as violence erupted outside a school.

The chaotic scenes were captured near Sandwell College, in West Bromwich, West Midlands.

Mobile phone footage shows more than a dozen hooded youths running amok in the middle of the town centre with at least two armed with massive blades.

At one point, a young man appears to lunge towards another with a knife, narrowly missing him as stunned motorists are forced to a halt.

A single college security guard can be seen running into shot as groups of people swarm the area near the King’s Square shopping centre.

Horrified social media users voiced their concern over the footage.

One person commented on Facebook: ‘Why does this generation of kids think playing with their lives is a game?’

Another added: ‘The truth is people need to stop standing by watching and do something to help.’

The college said: ‘We are aware of a recent incident in West Bromwich town centre. We can confirm that the individuals involved are not Sandwell College learners.’

A spokesperson for West Midlands Police said: ‘We’re investigating following armed disorder near West Bromwich Ringway.

‘A number of people were seen running through the streets with weapons at just before 1.30pm on Friday 6 December. No-one is known to have been injured but we’re working hard to identify those involved.

‘We’ve been reviewing CCTV – alongside other enquiries – and we’ll be looking to arrest whoever is found to have been carrying a weapon. We know this would have been intimidating, and worrying, for others and our officers are continuing to conduct highly visible patrols in the area to provide reassurance.

‘Anyone with information is asked to contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, quoting log 2223 of 6 December.’

Knife violence amongst youngsters has been a worry for police in recent years.

Just last week, four teens were jailed for life for the murders of two best friends who were viciously stabbed to death in a tragic case of mistaken identity.

Mason Rist, 15, and Max Dixon, 16, were killed after being chased by a gang of armed thugs in the Knowle West area of Bristol as they went out for pizza.

Their attackers – Riley Tolliver, 18, Kodishai Westcott, 17,  and two boys aged 15 and 16, who cannot be named due to their age – had been driven to Ilminster Avenue by Antony Snook, 45.

They had been on a ‘blood thirsty revenge mission’ after an earlier attack on Kodi’s family home, which was part of a ‘postcode rivalry’ between two suburbs of Bristol.

All five were convicted of two counts of murder last month following a six-week trial at Bristol Crown Court. Snook was later jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 38 years.

Max, 16, and Mason, 15, had been firm friends since the tender age of five

Judge Mrs Justice May said Max and Mason were ‘completely innocent parties’ and were in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Wescott, who can be named for the first time after a judge lifted a Section 45 order, was told he would serve a minimum of 23 years and 44 days. Tolliver was jailed for a minimum of 23 years and 47 days.

The 15-year-old boy was told he would serve at least 15 years and 229 days, while the 16-year-old was given a minimum term of 18 years and 44 days.

‘You were part of a group who attacked and killed two boys,’ the judge told the  defendants.

‘The boys you killed were Mason Rist and Max Dixon. They were your age. They had done nothing wrong. They didn’t attack the house, they had nothing to do with it.

‘You have heard how much pain you have caused to their families.

‘Max and Mason’s families must go on without them in a different way. Your lives will change too. As Mason’s sister said, there are no winners here.’
