A female prison officer has been suspended after allegedly being filmed having sex with a ‘burly, tattooed’ inmate.
The 19-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office after a video of the supposed romp was taken at HMP Five Wells last week.
The footage captured at the Wellingborough prison allegedly showed the officer performing a sex act on the convict before they had intercourse, The Sun reports.
The video has reportedly been shared with other prisoners at the £235 million Category C jail as well as friends who are not behind bars.
Concerns regarding the availability of drugs and other illicit items as well as food shortages and staff safety at HMP Five Wells were raised by independent inspectors last October.
In their most recent report the Independent Monitoring Board (IMB) determined that several issues had worsened, with drugs said to be ‘routinely available’.
During the year-long review, at least 25 per cent of prisoners at HMP Five Wells who were randomly tested for illegal substances were found to be positive.
A source branded the incident as ‘shocking’ in light of scandals in other prisons, telling the publication that the prison worker’s career ‘is effectively over’.
‘The female warder is being incredibly stupid,’ the source said before quipping the prison officer had ‘risked everything’.

‘I know they’re called screws but you can’t be sleeping with prisoners in your prison and definitely shouldn’t do it on camera,’ they added.
The prison, which is managed by security company G4S, was initially opened in 2022 and is home to around 1,700 male prisoners.
A spokesperson for HMP Five Wells said: ‘A prison custody officer has been suspended and arrested by Northamptonshire Police on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
‘It would be inappropriate to comment further while they investigate.’
A Northampton Police spokesperson said: ‘A 19-year-old woman has been arrested by Northamptonshire Police on suspicion of misconduct in a public office.
‘This is a live investigation and, as such, we can make no further comment at this time.’
It comes shortly after another HMP Five Wells female prison guard romped with an armed robber in a prison storeroom and later had his baby.

CCTV footage also caught the pair going into a prison storeroom for an hour of ‘intimacy’, Northampton Crown Court heard.
Following the discovery of their relationship, the 31-year-old mother-of-five was suspended from the prison in 2022, with her convict lover, who was serving 10-and-a-half-years behind bars, relocated to another jail.
After her suspension, Stanton continued to visit the inmate and the pair now share a child – but have since separated.
In July she admitted to wilful misconduct in public office and was handed an 18-month suspended sentence and ordered to take part in 20 days rehabilitation activity.
It comes as a record number of female prison guards were fired for having sex with male inmates in the past three years – with 29 given the sack.
The figure compares to just nine who lost their jobs for the same offence between 2017 and 2019, with some cutting holes in their uniforms to make sexual acts easier.

A friend of De Sousa Abreu shared the video of her stroking her tag as she put her leg on the table.
She is seen lifting up her dress and saying: ‘Very mindful, very cutesy, very demure.’
The phrase has become very popular on TikTok after it was first used by Jools Lebron, who made a funny video about workplace beauty etiquette.
But De Sousa Abreu has been criticised over the reference. ‘It’s disgusting she has no shame,’ a source told The Sun.
‘She is laughing her head off and looks happy she has a tag to show off.
‘She disgraced herself in a public office and now she has no care whatsoever for the punishment.
‘Clearly if she thinks her ankle tag is like a piece of jewellery, she didn’t think it was a big deal.’
De Sousa Abreu was allegedly ‘having problems in her marriage’ when the x-rated clip was filmed.
She admitted to having sex with burglar Weirich but says she only agreed to take part after lags threatened to expose her career as an amateur porn star.
Close friend Hayley, who only wanted to give her first name, told MailOnline that De Sousa Abreu had allegedly been going through a ‘very hard time’ at work, claiming prisoners knew her husband’s name and about her OnlyFans account.
