Pep Guardiola makes stop promise in ‘largest disaster’ of his profession at Man City
Manchester City are going through their worst period since Pep Guardiola took charge which started only weeks before the Spanish coach signed a new two-year deal at the Etihad
Pep Guardiola has dismissed talk he could walk out on Manchester City.
Guardiola finds himself in the middle of the biggest crisis of his managerial career. His English champions have won just one of their last 13 games in all competitions to leave their title defence in tatters.
City find themselves in seventh place in the Premier League table – a staggering a 14 points adrift of leaders Liverpool. While Guardiola’s flops also face a desperate battle to reach the Champions League knockout stages.
There have been suggestions Guardiola could quit, if he decides there is nothing more he can do to fix the problems he faces. But the Spaniard, who only signed a new two-year deal last month, is adamant he will not throw in the towel.
Guardiola said: “Yes I will try. I will keep going. Sometimes you think it will be earlier or easier to fix it, and other times it takes more time.
“But I will not give up. I want to be here, I want to do it, and with the situation we have now, I HAVE to do it.” Guardiola is desperate to get back to winning ways when his team travel to Leicester on Sunday, because he owes it to everyone connected to the club.
He added: “Of course I want it. Everyone wants it. I don’t want to disappoint my people in terms of the club, the fans, the people who love this place.”
