Ruben Amorim points Man Utd rallying cry as he admits ‘short-term prices’ plan
Ruben Amorim has made a defiant rallying cry as Manchester United look to end a miserable 2024 on a positive note despite a string of crushing results
Ruben Amorim will not waver from his belief he will lead Manchester United back to the big time.
Amorim has endured a tough start to life as United boss following a string of crushing results. United have lost five of their last seven games in all competitions, including a run of three losses on the spin.
The fallen giants are guaranteed to finish 2024 below seventh in the table for the first time since 1989. Recent events, including a humiliating 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth, have left Amorim discussing his own future, and admitting he won’t be immune from the sack if results don’t improve.
But the Portuguese coach remains adamant that, given time, he can help bring the good times back to the English giants. Amorim said: “What I can say for certain is that it will take time, but we will improve.
“I have no doubt about that. This period will not last forever. When I took this job, I knew that it was signing up for a lot of work.
“And if we are to make the long-term changes that we want to make at United, then we have to go through that step by step. We are looking to implement a new way of playing, at the busiest time of the year, so there are short-term costs for our long term aims.
“But I have seen enough in the last few weeks to recognise that we have many of the ingredients we need for success. And I remain as convinced as I was on my first day here that we will achieve it.
“In the meantime, it’s my responsibility to remain calm, and keep everyone together through this period of change.”
