Wild second automobile ploughs via entrance yard in Opotiki and rams vehicles as locals search refuge in a close-by New Zealand pub
Shocking footage has emerged of an SUV smashing into a parked car before it rammed another vehicle off the road, sending onlookers fleeing.
The video was taken at the intersection of Church Street and Kelly Street in Opotiki, on the north coast of New Zealand‘s North Island, just after 11pm on Friday.
The Mitsubishi Pajero flew through the intersection before it smashed into a car parked on an empty plot of land across the road from the Opotiki Hotel.
It then pushed through the grass lot and crashed into the back of a red sports car, forcing them both into the hotel’s parking lot.
A group of onlookers standing outside the pub were seen running for their lives as the car continued to drive erratically along Kelly Street.
The red car returned to the road for a few seconds before it was once again targted by the SUV and sent into a tail spin by the Pajero at the intersection in front of an NZ Police car.
Despite the scene unfolding in front of them, the officers then passed between the car and it’s detached bumper and continued along Kelly Street.
The driver of the larger car was briefly stopped by an onlooker standing in front of it before it raced away.

A Hato Hone St John Ambulance spokesperson said they were notified of the incident but their ‘assistance was not required’.
NZ Police confirmed there were ‘no significant injuries’ as a result of the ‘disorder’.
A police spokesperson said the vehicle was later seen driving along State Highway 35 and was pursued from a distance.
The pursuit ended at Hikuwai Reserve, northwest of Opotiki, where the vehicle was found abandoned.
Police enlisted the help of the dog unit in an attempt to track the occupants of the vehicle but they managed to flee the scene.
‘Inquiries remain ongoing to identify and locate those involved,’ a police spokesperson said.
