Emma Paton calls out fan with pants on his head spilling 5 beer pitchers
Sky Sports darts presenter Emma Paton was left bemused after watching one darts fan attempt to carry five jugs of beer at the Alexandra Palace during the New Year’s Day action
Sky Sports darts presenter Emma Paton was left stunned after watching one fan at the PDC World Darts Championship attempt to carry five jugs of beer – and fail miserably.
The arrow action returned to the Alexandra Palace on New Year’s Day for the quarter-finals of the World Championships, with the quartet of Luke Littler, Michael van Gerwen, Stephen Bunting and Chris Dobey advancing to the semi-finals.
Littler beat out Nathan Aspinall in convincing fashion while Van Gerwen and Bunting bested Callan Rydz and Peter Wright, who knocked out world number one Luke Humphries a round prior, respectively. And rounding out the final four, Dobey beat Gerwyn Price.
But while the action up on stage at the Ally Pally was enthralling entertainment for the masses, there was one individual in the crowd who was providing entertainment of his own as he tried to carry five jugs of beer, much to the perplexmxent of Paton.
Heading to an ad-break, the Sky Sports camera panned to the man in the crowd who donned some Paddy Power underwear on his head whilst carrying the five jugs in his hands.
“We are seeing in, 2025 in style, these guys certainly are,” began Paton, before it became obvious the fan in question was not going to be able to hold his pint pitcher quintet.
“This is when you think you can carry five jugs…why is no one helping him? That’s the big question. Finally, someone please, take a jug off him or something.”
The official PDC X account also posted the video of the moment, writing: “Want a tray mate? Nah I’ll be sound…” And plenty of darts fans on social media were quick to give their thoughts on the beer spilling scenes at the Alexandra Palace.
“Should have carried 4 and saved the cost of 1 pitcher he threw away there,” wrote one fan on X. A second added: “That’s £150 he has paid for that!”
A third mocked up his response to being asked if he wanted a tray, commenting: “I’m already carrying five jugs, pal, how am I supposed to carry a tray as well?” A fourth said: “He’s had an absolute mare here.” And a fifth said: “Would break your heart.”
The action at the Alexandra Palace resumes tonight for the semi-finals, with Littler taking on Bunting before Van Gerwen and Dobey face-off for a place in Friday’s World Championship final.
