Apple declare Luke Littler has received the World Darts Championship earlier than he is even performed
An Apple news summary has falsely claimed Luke Littler has won the Paddy Power PDC World Darts Championship.
Littler, 17, has another shot at glory after falling short against Luke Humphries in last year’s final. The Nuke has three-time champion Michael van Gerwen standing in his way as he aims to top off a year from his darting dreams.
However, on Friday (January 3) an iPhone notification based on a news story of Littler winning the semi-final against Stephen Bunting falsely made it appear that the BBC was reporting he had won the whole event.
“It is essential that Apple fixes this problem urgently – as this has happened multiple times,” a spokesperson told BBC News.
“As the most trusted news media organisation in the world, it is crucial that audiences can trust any information or journalism published in our name and that includes notifications.”

“Everyone else is looking forward to it more than I am, but if I win seven sets I will be happy,” Littler said in his post-match press conference. “Michael has been in numerous finals, this is my second, I know where I went wrong last year and I am sure I will fix it.
“It will mean everything, if I win seven sets I’ll be over the moon. I can’t wait to get on stage. It’s the stuff of dreams, everyone wants to pick up a trophy, but you have to be at the top of your game to do it.”
He added: “Every night before I do play a game I’ve slept, I’ve slept well, whereas last year I wasn’t sleeping at all because I was just ready for the next game. But this year it’s a lot different. As soon as I knew back-to-back finals, it’s just chill out, reset the batteries and go again.”
