A massive alligator was spotted by a tour group dragging a ginormous snake through a murky Florida waterway in a terrifying sight.

Everglades National Park tour guide Kelly Alveraz filmed the incredible moment, which showed the alligator, nicknamed “Godzilla” swimming along with the dead Burmese python in its maw on Thanksgiving.

The tour guide was giving her regular tour through the Florida national park, the largest subtropical wilderness in the States, when the group spotted the chilling sight. Alvarez, who said seeing alligators demolish pythons is nothing strange, said its the first time she had seen a python that big become lunch.

She told USA Today: “I have seen many alligators eating pythons out here. I have never, ever, ever seen a python that large.”

Alvarez said: “I thought it was a log floating on the surface of water or something like that. Then I noticed the alligator moving it.”

The guide recognised the 10-12ft long reptile as Godzilla, who is often spotted sunbathing near the tower, and was gobsmacked to see the beast swimming along with a massive python that appeared to be almost twice Godzilla’s length in its mouth.

Adding to the grimness of the scene, Alvarez noticed the bloated snake had its ends missing.

Astonished visitors watched on, with one tourist heard exclaiming “that’s a really, really big python”, on the footage.

Agreeing, Alvarez said: “That’s so gnarly!”

Burmese pythons are among the largest snakes in the world, and average between 10 and 16ft when fully grown, according to the University of Florida.

It’s thought Godzilla’s meal could be the longest python ever seen, longer than 19ft snake caught in the Big Cypress National Preserve in 2023, MailOnline reports.

Alvarez estimated the beast to be at least 20 ft long, making it one of the longest snakes ever seen in Everglades.

Unsurprisingly, the massive snake is an invasive species as they have very few predators, and and prey on native species, eating everything from mice, bobcats and deer.
