Mohamed Salah has dropped a bombshell on Liverpool fans, admitting he sees the current campaign as his swansong at Anfield if contract talks keep stalling.

The Egyptian maestro, whose deal dries up in June, told Sky Sports: “So far, yes. It’s the last six months [of my time at Liverpool]. There is no progress there. We are far away from any progress. So, we just need to wait and see.”

Despite being 32 and apparently nearing the exit door, Salah’s form remains blistering – banging in 17 goals with a further 13 assists in only 18 appearances under Arne Slot this season.

Yet, the Reds have held back on splashing cash for stars entering their twilight years, leaving Salah to openly muse about his future. He’s adamant that he’s zeroed in on bringing another Premier League crown to the Kop, rather than fretting over the contract saga.

Salah reflected: “The thing in my head is that if this is the last six months, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say I was concerned or stressed about the contract?

“Or do you just want to say I had an unbelievable season? That’s what is in my head. If I ever feel distraction, I just remind myself I want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season. That’s what I want to do,” reports Liverpool.com.

Salah, along with Liverpool stars Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold, are all out of contract at the end of the season. Real Madrid is reportedly eyeing England international Alexander-Arnold for a potential signing either this month or in the summer.

Despite the uncertainty, Slot and the three players have performed impressively this season, with Liverpool currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League table. Salah expressed his desire for another Premier League title before this successful era ends.

“I still believe the team needs a trophy,” he confessed. “There is still half of the team left like me, Trent, Virgil, Alisson, Robbo [Andy Robertson]. It’s necessary for us to win another trophy before we all go.”
