Rotterdam police looking gunman over three ‘random’ shootings that left two folks useless arrest suspect, 24

Dutch police have arrested a suspected gunman after three ‘random’ shootings in the same Rotterdam district that left two people dead.

The police arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the three apparently random shootings on December 21, December 28 and January 2.

The suspect was arrested around 11.15pm in a house on the Emelissedijk in Rotterdam.

It comes shortly after Rotterdam police released a photo of a man they urgently want to interview about the incidents in the IJsselmonde district of the city.

The ‘killing spree’ began on December 21, when a 63-year-old man was gunned down on Reyerdijk.

He was shot at 9.40pm and was found by a passer-by who called emergency services and he was rushed to hospital but sadly passed away.

A week later, a 58-year-old man was found on a cycle path on Roelantpad. He also died from his injuries, later on in hospital. He had been shot at least once at about 10pm.

The 81-year-old man was found seriously injured with a likely gunshot wound this morning – less than five days later.

Police say they are assuming all three shootings are connected, but a motive has not yet been established.

None of the incidents seemed to be gang-related as none of the victims had criminal links, police said.

A 20-year-old man from Amsterdam was arrested on Monday in connection with the shootings but is not thought to be the gunman.

The latest CCTV comes from Thursday’s attack.

A police statement said: ‘It is of the utmost importance that this man is identified quickly and arrested to prevent further incidents taking place.’

Cops are not ruling out that the perpetrator is choosing his victims at random.

The Public Prosecution Service (OM) put up a 30,000 euro reward for the tip that leads to the gunman’s arrest.
