Why Luke Littler’s stroll out music is a Pitbull observe after particular WWE second
Luke Littler’s choice of walk-on music has divided fans during his rapid rise to the top – and he picked the tune thanks to a trip to WrestleMania back in 2017
Let’s be honest, a good walk-on song can make or break a star.
Stephen Bunting has Titanium; Phil Taylor had The Power (of Shangra) and Luke Littler has, erm, Greenlight. The modern pop bop that has a catchy chorus has some fans bouncing, while others aren’t too keen on it.
But why does Littler use the song? Well it’s thanks to the WWE.
Littler picked the song for his walk-on after becoming addicted to it during a visit to the United States to watch WrestleMania in 2017 when he was just 10 years old. The song was used by the WWE as part of their promos and it stuck with him.
Speaking on BBC Radio One and asked if Pitbull knows who he is, Littler said: “I don’t think he knows who I am. I hope he does. It was from WWE Wrestlemania 33, back in 2017. I went over with my dad, it was unbelievable.
“It’s fair to say I don’t like the wrestling any more, I think I’ve grown out of it. That’s just an experience to be at Wrestlemania and I just took the song off him.”
Littler is winning some people over with his music, but some people are still not convinced it will have the iconic staying power like Michael van Gerwen’s Seven Nation Army or Nathan Aspinall’s Mr Brightside.
However, it’s not the tune that darts’ stars might have to worry about with the Nuke leading the way in the Premier League. Littler won in Belfast and Manchester before beating the boos of the crowd in Liverpool.
Littler is sitting pretty on 31 points, leading the way ahead of world champion Luke Humphries, Aspinall and Van Gerwen.
