Teen darts sensation Luke Littler has already started to share his £500k prize money after clinching his first World Darts Championship title.

The 17-year-old was in top form as he thrashed three-time champion Michael van Gerwen in the final at Ally Pally, securing a 7-3 victory after an impressive 4-0 lead to make history as the youngest ever winner of the title.

An emotional Littler lifted the Sid Waddell Trophy and was later seen hugging his family members in the audience. This included his parents Lisa and Anthony and older brother Leon, who had extra reason to celebrate on his 21st birthday weekend.

As they left Ally Pally, Littler Jnr was spotted giving his brother bundles of cash as the family boarded a taxi in the car park. Leon responded by planting a kiss on the head of the new world No.2, while their parents carefully held a miniature replica trophy.

A man was seen carrying a black flight case out of the building, likely containing the main silverware. Littler didn’t just walk away with a £500k cheque and the Sid Waddell Trophy from London, he also bagged the Paddy Power Ballon d’Art honour for throwing the most 180’s during the tournament.

Given Littler’s age, any pub celebrations will have to be alcohol-free. However, it seems that Leon plans to use the generous cash gift to celebrate on his behalf. “Can’t do much with him, can you! He’s 17,” he told The Sun.

“He’ll go out, chill on his game (Xbox), maybe order some food. And I’ll do the celebrating for him.”

Littler was left in floods of tears after nailing a double 16 to clinch victory over Van Gerwen, with the two sharing a heartfelt hug post-match. But it was his gobsmacked reaction to the announcement of his prize money that really caught the eye – the lad’s eyebrows shot up as if he’d hit another jackpot.

After scooping 10 PDC titles since bursting onto the scene at Ally Pally and bagging the Premier League Darts crown, Littler’s bank balance has smashed past the £1million mark.

Despite usually playing it cool about the dosh, this time he’s admitted there might be a splashy spend on the horizon: “There probably will be a big purchase when I get my head around the amount of money I’ve won,” he said.

“But I have said it in other interviews, I don’t like to talk about the money, but it is there.” Yet, for Littler, it’s the trophy that’s the real treasure, not the hefty payday.

Cracking a joke about the weight of the trophy, which had him struggling to hoist it aloft, he quipped: “It’s heavy,” and revealed plans to park it right in his living room. “It’s probably going on the living-room floor. To see it there and know it’s mine, I cannot wait.”
