The most expensive home sales of 2024 reveal the staggering prices that last year’s luxury homes sold for.
The most eye-watering sale, which was over $90 million, was raked in by Ellen DeGeneres who fled the United States following the election.
The second most expensive sale reached over $70 million in Aspen, with breathtaking views of the snow-covered mountains and minutes from popular ski resorts.
According to Redfin, the median price for home sales sat at $383,725 for the four weeks ending December 22.
Warmer states saw more of a hefty price attached to the homes sold throughout 2024, with California and Florida reaching the top rankings multiple times.
However, cooler Colorado also saw two homes sold for more than $60 million, earning the state two spots on the list.
A combination of location, design, unique features and, in some cases, celebrity status made these home sales truly exceptional.

Carpinteria, California

The 10-acre property, built in 2007, was bought by DeGeneres in 2022 for $70 million.
The Tuscan-style mansion boasts more than 9,000 square feet, five bedrooms and eight bathrooms over three levels.
The home includes high exposed wood-beam ceilings, hardwood floors, stone archways and marble accents.
It was sold in 2009 to mining magnate Robert Friedland. Then in November, after the election, DeGeneres made a swift exit from the United States with no reported plans to return.
The couple are now living in the Cotswolds in England, about 100 miles from London.
Among those with properties in the star-studded Costwolds area are David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Patrick Stewart, Elizabeth Hurley, Jeremy Clarkson and Damien Hirst.

The 12,500 square-foot ‘mountain retreat’ includes a heated swimming pool, two hot tubs, a trout pond, a movie theatre and a wine cellar.
The property is surrounded by trees and fields with a gorgeous backdrop of the snow-covered mountains.
Inside the home features eight bedrooms, including a ‘lavish’ master suite. It is also equipped with the same number of full bathrooms and three half-baths, as well as a gourmet kitchen and cozy fireplaces throughout the home.
Miami Beach, Florida

The five-bedroom home was built on more than 9,000 square feet in downtown Aspen.

Carpinteria, California
Another home in Carpinteria ranked among the most expensive sales with a $65 million mansion bought in mid-November.
The 10,900 square-foot home was built with five bedrooms and nine bathrooms.
The 12-acre estate, consisting of three parcels, was sold by retired hedge funder Bruce Kovner who had coined the original 22-acres ‘The Sancturary of Loon Point.’
In August 2021, Kovner listed the entire estate with consisted of two homes on neighboring parcels and several vacant lots for $160 million.
Two of those lots were the now-sold $96 million properties bought by DeGeneres and her wife in 2022.
The remaining three parcels include a 10,902-square-foot Mediterranean-style main house, a guest house, a cabana, and landscaped gardens with ocean views, reported Mansion Global.
Built in 2018, the five-bedroom home is located in a private gated community, with a path connecting the bluff to Loon Point Beach.
The final sale price makes it the third most expensive sale in the Santa Barbara area.
Kovner and his wife had started with a single 3.5-acre lot and transformed the land spending $50 million and developing over 14 years.
Two empty parcels were sold with the five-bedroom home, one can hold a 12,000-square-foot home and the other an 8,000-square-foot home.
Los Angeles, California
