Liverpool and Manchester United‘s Sunday afternoon clash at Anfield is ON.

There had been concerns the game would not go ahead due to freak weather on Merseyside which has been coated with snow through the night and into Sunday morning. However, despite the heavy snowfall, the game will go ahead.

A statement from Manchester United confirming the news read: “Following a second safety meeting, it has been decided that today’s match between Manchester United and Liverpool will go ahead. There have been snowfall and weather warnings across the North West on Sunday but it has been deemed safe for fans to attend the 16:30 GMT kick-off. Take care if you are travelling to Merseyside today, Reds.”

With Arsenal and Chelsea both dropping points in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon to Brighton and Crystal Palace respectively, Premier League leaders Liverpool have an opportunity to pull themselves eight points clear of the Gunners, who sit second.
