Keira Knightley appears effortlessly stylish in Chanel as she makes a blinding return to the pink carpet on the annual Golden Globe Awards

Keira Knightley made a dazzling return to the red carpet at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, turning heads in an elegant Chanel gown.

The actress, 39, known for her roles in Netflix’s Black Doves and Love Actually, opted for a sleek black slip dress that blended classic simplicity with intricate detailing.

The top of the gown featured shimmering silver sequins in a swirling design, broken up by a delicate bow adorned with a small rosette.

A satin ribbon defined the waist, leading into a dramatic flourish of black feathers.

The lower half of the dress remained understated with a smooth, glossy finish, allowing the detailed bodice to take centre stage.

Keira completed the look with her signature bob styled neatly, a black manicure, and understated diamond rings.

The British actress is nominated in the Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Television Series – Drama category for her performance in Black Doves, a six-part spy thriller series starring her character as Helen Webb, the wife of the Secretary of State for Defence, who learns that her secret identity as a Black Dove is in danger after her lover is killed by London‘s underworld.

Netflix announced it has renewed the show for a second season after the first of the thriller series became a hit with fans – and royalty.

It was an instant hit, flying to the top of the charts as viewers dubbed it a ‘Christmas series’ and it even made it to Kensington Palace.

Whilst handing out Christmas presents to children and families at a party for 1st Battalion Mercian Regiment in Wiltshire, Prince William revealed he and Princess Catherine have been sitting down to watch Black Doves.

The X account for Netflix posted a 30-second clip of Keira, 39, as her character Helen Webb and Ben Whishaw, 44, as Sam Young, together at a bar.

In the clip, Keira approaches Ben and whispers ‘Merry Christmas’ in his ear, to which he replies ‘Hello darling’ as the two share a hug.

Breaking the fourth wall, Keira raises her champagne glass says: ‘Here’s to Black Doves season one.’

Clinking his glass against hers, Ben replies: ‘Don’t forget season two, darling.’

The pair then retrieve two golden bullets from little red envelopes and simultaneously drop them in their champagne glasses before the title screen appears and the clip ends.

It scored a perfect 100 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes just one day after its launch.

The annual Golden Globe Awards is set to celebrate some of the most popular TV shows and movies this year.

The show takes place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, and will be hosted by comedian Nikki Glaser, who went viral last year for her Tom Brady roast.

The works up for nomination this year include some of the biggest hits, like Challengers, Deadpool & Wolverine, Twisters, Wicked and The Brutalist.

Among the actors up for awards are Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo for their respective roles in Wicked, while Selena Gomez is nominated for her role in film Emilia Pérez.

Other names include Timothée Chalamet, who is expected to be joined by his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner, as well as Denzel Washington, who is up for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in any Motion Picture as he took on the role of Macrinus in Gladiator II.

Last year, the Golden Globes proved a successful night for Oppenheimer, which scored five major awards during the ceremony.

British film-maker Sir Christopher Nolan was named best director for the first time after six nominations, while Irisih actor Cilllian Murphy took home best actor.

During the event, Cheers legend Ted Danson will receive the Carol Burnett Award for those who have ‘made outstanding contributions to television on or off screen’ and Viola Davis will be handed the Cecil B. DeMille Award for achievement in film.
