Nikki Glaser roasts Hollywood throughout 2025 Golden Globes monologue with jibes over Trump, Diddy and RFK Jr.

Comedian Nikki Glaser opened the 2025 Golden Globe Awards with a set that included jokes about Sean ‘Diddy‘ Combs, President-elect Donald Trump and Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Glaser, 40, made reference to Trump’s popular vote victory – despite Hollywood’s overwhelming support for Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris.

‘Some of you may know me as a stand up comedian, and from my appearances on roasts,’ Glaser said. ‘But I’m not here to roast you. I want you to know that. How could I, really? You’re also famous, so talented, so powerful. You can really do anything, except tell the country who to vote for, but it’s okay.’

The reference about Diddy came as Glaser made mention of Zendaya, as she said, ‘Zendaya is here – Zendaya, you were incredible in Dune. Oh, my God, I woke up for all of your scenes. You were so good.

‘And Challengers, girl? Oh, my God, that was so good. That movie was more sexually charged than Diddy’s credit card.’

Glaser continued: ‘I’m sorry, I’m upset, too. The afterparty isn’t gonna be as good this year. But we have to move on – “Stanley Tucci freak-off” doesn’t have the same ring to it – no baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil.’

The joke about Kennedy, Trump’s health secretary nominee, centered on the activist’s admitted dietary quirks.

She joked, ‘The Bear, The Penguin, Baby Reindeer – these are not just things found in RFK’s freezer!’

Reactions on social media were mixed to the topics and punchlines the comedian – who stood out at last year’s Tom Brady roast – delivered on the huge stage in Los Angeles to open the new year.

‘Love how Nikki Glaser roasted the Hollywood elites right to their faces at the Golden Globes, especially that zinger about Diddy’s parties – no more freak offs, no baby oil,’ said one user. ‘The awkward laughs from the A-listers were priceless.

‘Finally, someone calling out the hypocrisy in Tinseltown. Kudos to Nikki for keeping it real and funny.’

A number of people took issue with the jokes about Combs, who remains in custody in connection with allegations of sex trafficking, ahead of a trial slated for May.

‘Can someone please tell these “comedians” that the diddy jokes are not funny? We’re in for a long night with the golden globes I think…’ one user said.

Other users noted the multiple allegations against Combs in lawsuits pertaining to the sexual assault of minors.

Glaser joked of Diddy: ‘I’m sorry, I’m upset, too. The afterparty isn’t gonna be as good this year. But we have to move on – “Stanley Tucci freak-off” doesn’t have the same ring to it – no baby oil this year, just lots of olive oil’

‘Maybe this is Too Woke of me but Nikki Glaser’s jokes about the Diddy…. Yikes. Like where is the humor in the mass sexual assault and trafficking of minors?’ one user said.

Another added that the jokes are ‘poking fun at abuse the victims went through,’ describing Glaser as ‘already painfully unfunny’ and her jokes on the topic ‘pathetic and gross.’

Some felt the Diddy jokes were appropriate, with one user saying, ‘ROFL!! What a great example and relevance of discussing Diddy`s credit cards here. This is why we love Nikki Glaser! Always bringing the controversy and heat.’

The 2025 Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Emmy-nominated comedian Glaser, are taking place at The Beverly Hilton hotel in Los Angeles. Wicked’s Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo and musical drama Emilia Perez lead the nominations.

Jacques Audiard’s surreal narco-thriller musical about a Mexican drug lord who transitions to live as a woman led the nominations with 10, as the race to the Oscars heats up.

The genre-defying film stars transgender actress Karla Sofía Gascón as the title character, along with actress–singer Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldaña in supporting roles.

All three are up for prizes at the Golden Globes, which are widely seen as a bellwether for the Academy Awards.

The smash hit Wicked, the film adaptation of the hit Broadway musical, earned four nominations, including one apiece for pop sensation Grande and Tony award winner  Erivo.

Grande, who earned her first ever Golden Globe nomination, is featured in the category for Best Supporting Female Actor — Motion Picture for her role as Galinda Upland in the fantasy drama, which is inspired by The Wizard Of Oz.

The versatile star will compete alongside close friend Selena Gomez for her role in Emilia Perez, as well as Margaret Qualley, who won universally positive reviews for her body shock horror film The Substance.

Isabella Rossellini is also nominated for her role in Concave, as is Zoe Saldana, again for Emilia Perez.

Ahead of the nominations, Variety Senior Awards Editor Clayton Davis suggested organizers should save the last three categories of the night for comedy–musical honors, especially lead actress, which he called ‘the bloodbath category.;

He could be right, with Erivo, Emilia Perez star Karla Sofía Gascón and Anora star Mikey Madison battling for the lead actress prize with perennial awards-favorite Amy Adams for Nightbitch, as well as Demi Moore for The Substance and Challengers star Zendaya.

Wicked also received a nod for Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, along with the hit films Deadpool & Wolverine, Twisters, Inside Out 2, the sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice and the surprisingly overlooked Gladiator II.

Brady Corbet’s The Brutalist is among the contenders for Best Motion Picture Drama, while Adam Brody and British star Felicity Jones scored acting nods alongside Guy Pearce for supporting.
