A six-month-old girl from Manchester has tragically died after suffering injuries in a crash in Wales. The baby, Sophia Kelemen, was involved in the terrible incident that happened on January 2 in a multi-storey car park in Tenby.
Authorities confirmed that a man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving. Flaviu Naghi, 33, from Wigan, has also been charged on suspicion of drink and drug driving. In a statement, Dyfed-Powys Police said: “Sadly, we can confirm that a 6-month-old baby girl has died following a collision on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park in Tenby on January 2.”
Adding on the tragedy, they continued: “Sophia Kelemen, from the Leigh, Manchester area, was taken to hospital but died of her injuries on January 3. Our thoughts remain with her family at this difficult time. They are being supported by specially trained officers.”
In an update on the legal proceedings, the police said: “Flaviu Naghi, aged 33, from Wigan, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, driving without a license and without insurance. He appeared at Swansea Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 4th January, where he was further remanded to appear before Swansea Crown Court on 7th February,” reports the Mirror.
It added: “He was also arrested on suspicion of drink driving and drug driving and has been released on bail for these offences. This is a tragic incident and is a live investigation. We ask that you do not speculate the circumstances.”
Meanwhile, a man has been inundated with support after he opened up about battling survivor’s guilt when he shared a small jet crashed into his restaurant.
He shared his harrowing experience on Reddit, revealing that he was just about to open for the day when the plane failed its take-off and hurtled towards him. He posted: “I watched this jet leave the airport across the road and fly directly at us.”
“No time to react and barely comprehended what I was seeing. Jet hit my restaurant and crashed into the alley behind us. We managed to get out alive. Two people on the jet died. I’m struggling with this guilt of having amazing things happen for me because of this.” Read the full story here.
