Social Media Giggles At Congress’ Reaction To Matt Gaetz’s Absence
Former Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz was the subject of much mockery Friday after the acting House clerk announced that “the honorable Matt Gaetz of the state of Florida” had sent a letter saying he would not serve in the 119th Congress.
Not long afterward, the House Ethics Committee released a report that found “substantial evidence” that Gaetz had violated House rules “prohibiting prostitution, statutory rape, illicit drug use, impermissible gifts, special favors or privileges, and obstruction of Congress.”
Considering that sterling resume, it isn’t a surprise that the clerk’s announcement drew cheers from some members of Congress ― and on social media.
However, many folks questioned the House clerk’s description of Gaetz as “honorable.”
Since Gaetz’s new show on the One America News Network debuted Thursday night, one person wondered if he would actually report on the ritual humiliation.
