Donald Trump tells Greenland residents why they need to be a part of the U.S. in shock name
Donald Trump spoke directly to locals of Nuuk, Greenland on Tuesday during his son’s visit to the Danish territory.
The president-elect called into a lunch Donald Trump Jr. was having with community members so he could tell them why he wants the U.S. to buy Greenland.
‘You’re so strategically located,’ Trump told those dining out for lunch in a call where his son put him on speakerphone.
He claims Greenland would be a massive asset to the U.S. because it would allow Washington to provide more security for the entire region and the people of the arctic island.
Don Jr. landed in Greenland on Tuesday morning for a trip several insisted was ‘personal’ in nature. But it immediately became clear that he is there on a mission to further Trump’s efforts to acquire the island in his second term.
And Trump reiterated on social media that the trip is meant to move forward those intentions.
‘Don Jr. and my Reps landing in Greenland,’ Trump wrote on Truth Social with a video of the arrival. ‘The reception has been great. They, and the Free World, need safety, security, strength, and PEACE!’
‘This is a deal that must happen,’ he insisted. ‘MAGA. MAKE GREENLAND GREAT AGAIN!’
Trump, during a press conference in Mar-a-Lago on Tuesday, insisted to reporters that he’s serious about the plan to make Canada part of the U.S., but ruled out doing so by force.

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen reiterated that Greenland is not for sale.
She said on Tuesday that Greenland’s Prime Minister Múte Egede ‘has been very, very clear’ that they don’t intend to become part of the U.S.
‘There is a lot of support among the people of Greenland that Greenland is not for sale and will not be in the future either,’ Frederiksen insisted.
Speaking to the Greenland community earlier during his son’s lunch stop at Hotel Hans Egede, the incoming U.S. president speaking through his son’s phone speaker said: ‘I just want to say, it’s a very special place. It needs security for itself, but also needs security, very much, for the world.’
‘The location really, you see the people and the ships sailing around, and they’re not the right ships. They’re not the ships you want to know about.’
‘So we need security – our country needs it and the whole world needs it,’ he concluded to some cheers from those listening in to the call.
Don Jr. landed in chilly, arctic island territory on Tuesday morning for a surprise trip.
While multiple people said Don Jr.’s trip to Greenland is ‘personal’ and not political, the president-elect noted how his son was joined by his ‘representatives.’
Don Jr. was joined by Sergio Gor and Charlie Kirk for the visit to Greenland, as well as James Blair (not pictured), who is Trump’s incoming deputy chief of staff for legislative, political and public affairs

The chairman of one of the largest political parties in Greenland, however, denied a meeting with Don Jr . and echoed the sentiment that Greenland is not up for grabs.
Siumut party leader Erik Jensen told the press: ‘I can confirm that I have not planned to meet with him. I say it again that Greenland is not for sale and never will be.’
‘Everyone is welcome to visit our country, including Trump,’ he added. ‘When the future president’s son, who is also his own advisor, shows interest in our country, it means that Greenland is serious.’
Don Jr. posted multiple videos and photos from Greenland on Tuesday morning.
James Blair joins him on the visit to Greenland. Blair is incoming as deputy chief of staff for legislative, political and public affairs for Trump’s second presidential term. He was the 2024 campaign’s political director and oversaw a ground game seeking to reach low-propensity voters.
Also on the trip are conservative Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk and Sergio Gor, with whom Don co-owns Winning Team Publishing.

During lunch with community members in Nuuk, Greenland, Don Jr. put his father on speakerphone so he could have a quick word with the locals.
Sources told DailyMail.com ahead of the trip that Don planned to shoot video and podcasting content and insisted he is not meeting with any government officials or political figures.
Some reports suggested the president-elect’s oldest son was visiting at the request of Jensen, who is Greenland’s minister of finance and supports the independence of Greenland.
Jensen now denies he intends to meet with Don.
