Manchester United are willing to sell Casemiro this month in a bid to get him off the club’s wage bill.

Casemiro is the highest-paid star at Old Trafford on a deal worth £400,000-a-week. But new United boss Ruben Amorim has decided the Brazilian international will not be part of his long term plans.

And with a host of Saudi clubs keen to lure Casemiro to the Pro League, United would not stand in his way if a deal can be struck. Casemiro would be open to a move to Saudi, where he could land a deal that would double his wages.

The 32-year-old still has 18 months of his current contract to run – and would cost United almost £30m if he remained at Old Trafford. It’s understood United bosses would even consider selling Casemiro on the cheap, to free up a budget for Amorim to make some new signings.

United are hampered with a low spending budget due to strict FFP rules. But getting rid of Casemiro would at least create some room within spending limits during this month’s transfer window.

Casemiro was hailed as a showpiece signing when he joined United from Real Madrid in a £70m deal in 2022. He arrived at Old Trafford as one of the most decorates stars in world football, having won 18 major trophies with Real, including five Champions League titles.

But following an impressive first season, his form and fitness have deteriorated in the last 12 months. He has struggled to hold down a regular starting place since Amorim arrived, and his lack of pace was brutally exposed in the recent home defeat to Newcastle.
