A touching tribute to teen Jay Slater was revealed in moving social media images.

The mum of Jay, who went missing in Tenerife last year before being found dead, ordered her son’s favourite clothes to be made into cushions.

The owner of Handmade With Love Oswaltwistle said in a Facebook post that the request from Jay’s mum, Debbie had “really touched” her. Pictures of the cushions were attached to the post showing Jay’s Nike, Under Armour and Hugo Boss turned into cushions.

“All of my work touches my heart, but I must admit this one really touched me,” they said.

“I was honoured to be asked by Jay’s mum to make these cushions, using his favourite clothes. I hope they bring comfort to each person receiving them.

“Each one had a personalised memory patch added. Thank you so much Debbie for entrusting me to make these for you. Sending so much love.”

Comments on the post were admiring of the work done.

“I love the hoody cushions,” one person said. “I’ve been wanting something made from my son’s favourite hoodies since he died in March 2022 but have not been able to part with them thinking about them being cut up. These cushions would be perfect!”

Another said: “Beautiful… you touched my heart from stoke on Trent. Jay may you rip beautiful young boy.”

One person wrote: “Absolutely beautiful. I was in Hisaronu at the time Jay Slater went missing in Tenerife. All I could think about was him missing in a foreign country. Looking up at the mountains where I was hoping and praying he would be found safe.”

Jay’s remains were found near the village of Masca in July after he went missing following the Spanish island’s NRG music festival the previous month. Jay died after sustaining multiple injuries consistent with a fall in a rocky area.

The Spanish Civil Guard said Jay, 19, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, could have fallen in the steep and inaccessible area where he was found.

After the Canary Islands High Court of Justice confirmed the identity of the body in July, his mum said “our hearts are broken”.

Jay’s friend Lucy Law, who was the last known person to speak to him during a phone call on June 17, issued a tribute on her Instagram page.

She said: “Honestly lost for words.”
