Fitness membership reveals off new waterproof ‘Swim Suit’ for workplace staff

A gym chain has created a range of waterproof suits that means you can go from the pool to the desk without getting changed

A fitness club has launched a waterproof suit collection that was designed so workers can seamlessly transition from desk to dip and back again, helping bring more wellness into their work days.

David Lloyd Clubs crafted the stylish and practical suit in response to feedback from members who found it challenging to squeeze exercise into their hectic daily schedules.

The collection which could soon be available to the public is made from specialist hydrophobic fabric which helps it dry super quickly and each piece of the water-resistant ‘Swim Suit’ takes over three weeks to produce.

A representative for the health and wellness group stated: “More and more members are utilising our work stations and intermittently using the pool, gym, group classes, or padel courts throughout the day, creating a much more balanced work life.”

“Integrating wellness into various parts of the day significantly impacts our overall wellbeing, but trying to fit everything in can be challenging, so any assistance to maximise your time can make a huge difference,” they added.

A poll of 2,000 office workers revealed almost half skip their fitness and wellness activities because of their work schedules.

The David Lloyd Clubs spokesperson added: “The pressures of work and family commitments can be overwhelming and it is hard to carve out time to look after ourselves.”

According to poll, workers average four and a half hours a week in meetings while also working an average of over three hours extra outside of their contracted hours. This eats into a large chunk of their day, leaving them with less time to do any exercise.

“Rather than starting the new year with unrealistic goals, it’s more beneficial to form healthy habits that integrate into our lifestyles, improving wellness over the long term,” the spokesperson said.

They continued: “Wellness doesn’t have to mean long stints in the gym or pool. Studies have shown that short ‘snackable’ bursts of activity as little as 10 minutes throughout the day can be incredibly effective for both our health and productivity.”

Two-thirds said they would love to take part in more fitness and wellness activities if their job didn’t get in the way and 70% believe workplaces should encourage people to take breaks to prioritise their wellness during office hours.

Of those who do find time to exercise, 18% do so on their lunch break, however, 40% also said they would feel guilty taking part in exercise during work hours.

“The 20 minutes or so to get ready and showered after exercising can eat into your day. Now, you don’t even need to think about it – you can be straight out of the pool and back at your desk in a matter of seconds.”
