Romanian bodybuilder qualifies for remaining stage of Q-School as followers joke ‘be prepared’
Romanian bodybuilder Daniel Racoveanu has qualified for the final stages of Qualifying School with darts fans warning Gerwyn Price to ‘be ready’
Gerwyn Price has been warned to watch out after Romanian bodybuilder Daniel Racoveanu qualified for the final stages of Qualifying School.
‘The Iceman’ is one of the most pumped players on the darting stage with the former rugby star never afraid to flex his muscles to the crowd alongside his iconic muscle shirt design. But Price could be set to lose the jacked top spot if Racoveanu can secure his Tour Card.
Nicknamed ‘The Thunder’, Racoveanu has reached the final stage of Tour Card certification in Germany having consistently averaged around the 80 mark.
The 38-year-old has played in the BDO and WDF, winning the Balaton Darts Classics last year in his second title following his Rhinoceros Open win in 2011.
Racoveanu is ranked 149 in the WDF main rankings, a list that sees 2025 Paddy Power World Championship contenders Wesley Plaisier, Connor Scutt, Alexander Merkx and Leonard Gates in the top 10. The Romanian is ranked No. 10 in the WDF East Europe standings.
‘The Thunder’ enjoyed one of the best years of his career last year, recording his highest major average of 92.49 in the World Masters vs Niklas Klasila, the second time he had ever competed in the tournament.
But his life away from the oche is even more intriguing, with his Instagram page largely dedicated to his body-building lifestyle which hasn’t taken a backseat despite him being on the verge of making his darting dream a reality.
Meanwhile, the PDC’s current muscle man Price, learned that he will be returning to the Premier League stage in 2025 despite enduring a wretched 2024 on the big stage.
The Welshman went winless in the TV, European Tour and Players Championships events for the first time since 2017.
Price finished 7th in last year’s Premier League and can consider himself fortunate to be included due to his major performances with a fourth-round exit at the UK Open his furthest run in any major last year. However, Gezzy can take promise from his quarter-final run at Ally Pally this month
