Harry Redknapp has landed himself a new job after he was called upon to transform a club’s fortunes.

The legendary Premier League manager took charge of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham but this could be his biggest challenge yet. Following the success with Specsavers’ former Best Worst Team, Cwm Albion, the 77-year-old is set to return to management once again.

Redknapp turned Cwm Albion’s three years of defeats and a -191-goal difference into 50 goals, 7 wins and one of the greatest comebacks in grassroots football history. However, the challenge of Tunley Athletic could prove even tougher.

The 100-year-old club lost all 26 of their games last season, finishing rock bottom of the Uhlsport Somerset County League with a -137 goal difference. Earlier this season, Specsavers offered Tunley the golden ticket to an almighty turnaround with Redknapp taking charge.

Redknapp commented on linking back up with Specsavers in his new role at Tunley, saying: “After all my years of management in the Premier League and Champions League, it’s hard for me to say I’ve had as much fun as I did with the lads from Cwm Albion last year.

“That experience with the team, culminating in that comeback was unlike anything I’d experienced before. So, when Specsavers contacted me about Tunley Athletic it was a no brainer. They’re a tight-knit group with a fighting spirit about them, and I can’t wait to see what this season brings.”

Tunley Athletic manager Duncan Fear has been at the wheel for a decade, and he has welcomed the helping hand at turning the club around.

“We’re over the moon at this opportunity to turn our club around, it’s no secret that the past few years haven’t been the easiest,” he said.

“But I strongly believe in our group, and I see the work the team put in every week – getting this help from a truly legendary manager feels like a much-needed breath of fresh air for the club and the community.”
