Soccer AM’s ‘biggest second’ noticed Tim Lovejoy humiliated and collapse in agony

Soccer AM is a cult classic – but its greatest moment left Tim Lovejoy collapsed in agony.
Lovejoy, alongside Helen Chamberlain, was part of Soccer AM’s glory days in the early 2000s. The main part of Soccer AM’s appeal was its segments, including the much-loved – and dated – Soccerettes.
There has been some famous Soccerettes down the years – WWE’s Kelly Kelly once donned a Portsmouth top, while Sky Sports presenter Natalie Sawyer made her first appearance in a tight Brentford top. Mark Cavendish’s better half, ex-Page 3 model Peta Todd, even made an appearance.
While standing next to a Soccerette, the footie show’s former host was playfully goading his crew by saying he picked them because they were the “ugliest crew in the world” and he looked better.
Lovejoy then started showing off by singing “I’m too sexy for my crew”, a twist on pop band Right Said Fred’s smash hit ‘I’m too sexy for my shorts’. But one crew-member had enough and pelted him in the nether regions with a football.
He quickly swapped his singing for groaning as he fell to the floor clutching his crown jewels in pain – to the delight of the rest of his crew, including co-host Chamberlain.
Laughter erupted around the studio while Lovejoy grimaced in pain on all fours gasping for breath as jovial shouts of “be strong Tim”, and, “you alright there mate?” were heard in the background. Eventually, he managed to hoist himself upright with the help of the wall.
And before the clip ended, a wounded Tim found the strength to say: “I’m so seriously in pain,” prompting even more laughter from his crew.
The clip again went viral on social media over the weekend: “One of Soccer AM’s greatest ever moments!”
“You just can’t beat a good football in the groin,” a second joked, quoting The Simpsons. And another added: “Hahahaha this is iconic tv man! This was hilarious!”
Soccer AM was axed back in 2023, to the chagrin of fans, as Sky replaced the show with Saturday Social.
