Killer who stabbed ‘peace maker’ attempting to calm roadside feud down is jailed
Kevell Blake was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to eight years in prison for the death of Badri Issa. He was killed in Moss Side, Manchester, in October 2023
A sick killer has been jailed after stabbing a man trying to keep the peace to death on the side of a road. Kevell Blake, 21, from Bromshill Drive in Cheetham Hill, Greater Manchester, was found guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to eight years behind bars on Friday at Manchester Crown Court.
The court heard how police were called to reports of a stabbing on Moss Lane East, in Moss Side, shortly before 8pm on Wednesday 25 October 2023. Emergency services rushed to the scene and found a 22-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. Despite their best efforts, the victim, later identified as Badri Issa, tragically died later that evening, prompting a murder investigation.
In the lead up to the fatal attack, Badri had met with a friend for their regular gym session. As they drove along Princess Road towards the city centre, they noticed a white car trying to get their attention.
The driver of the white vehicle, Raami Mohamed, signalled for Badri’s friend to pull over. Both cars then parked on Moss Lane East. When Badri’s friend got out of the car, he was confronted by an agitated and aggressive Mohamed. Badri stepped in to try and calm the situation but was stabbed.
He collapsed, but the assault continued on his friend. Passers-by stopped to help in the early evening incident. Following a thorough investigation into Badri’s death, two men were arrested and charged with murder.
Raami Mohammed, 22, from Fairy Lane, Manchester, was convicted of murder and subsequently given a life sentence with a minimum term of 21 years, after a two-week trial in May 2024.
Detective Chief Inspector Andy Naismith, GMP’s Senior Investigating Officer for the murder of Badri Issa, said: “This has been a long and difficult time for the family of Badri Issa, as they have had to wait several months for the second part of this investigation.
“I’d like to thank the investigations team for the painstaking work they have put into seeking Justice for Badri’s family and loved ones.
“Badri tragically lost his life as he tried to keep the peace and de-escalate a situation. My thoughts will always remain with his family and friends, who have had to endure so much.
“As Badri’s family try to move on to some kind of normality with their lives, I hope this sentence can bring them a sense of closure knowing that both of his killers are behind bars, though it will never be enough to replace Badri, nor lesson their pain from his loss.”
