Brits believe there will be no cash or terrestrial telly in the future – but we’ll still love pubs, a Sunday roast and a cup of tea. A poll to see how Brits envisage life in 20 years’ time found 61% believe that life will be unrecognisable from the way we live today.

Many think that by 2045 social media will come with a warning, driverless cars will be common and deliveries will be made by drones.

AI will also have taken over all manual jobs, streaming services will have ended terrestrial TV and climate change will be irreversible. The research by Integrated Systems Europe (ISE), revealed 43% believe sports matches will be watched from home using a VR headset.

But some things will be the same – with 72% saying Brits will still discuss the weather, 65% convinced politicians will still lie and 52% will still love a cup of tea.

Some 44% say pubs will be going strong and 43% think people will tuck into a Sunday roast and another 33% think programmes such as Coronation Street will still be on.

Despite the changes, 64% admitted they were excited about the future, with 46% having faith that the world will be a better place.

Mike Blackman, Managing Director of ISE: “It’s clear from the research that while Brits anticipate life becoming unrecognizable in 20 years, they are excited about the possibilities the future holds, particularly with technology enhancing everyday life.

“It might not be recognisable for everyone, but audiovisual technology is the invisible backbone of modern life, shaping experiences and enhancing interactions in ways that impact us all- whether we own the technology or simply benefit from its presence in our everyday environments.
