Cop shouts ‘Bingo’ after discovering large £750k cocaine stash in middle-aged girl’s automotive
Linda Lawrence, 58, had more than 9kg of cocaine stashed in a cardboard box as she drove up the M6 – the force estimates over £750,000 worth of cocaine was seized from the car
In a moment of triumph, a gleeful cop bellowed “Bingo!” as he busts a middle-aged woman with a whopping £750,000 worth of cocaine in her car boot. Linda Lawrence, 58, was carting around more than 9 kilos of the white stuff, neatly boxed up, when she got nicked on the M6.
The savvy West Midlands Police had their eyes on her since October 8 last year after receiving a sneaky tip-off.
Caught on bodycam, one of the coppers is seen rummaging through Lawrence’s brown Mitsubishi ASX’s boot, unearthing an open box filled with the illegal cargo. The copper exclaims: “Bingo! ” while tallying up nine vacuum-sealed parcels chock-full of cocaine.
He then proclaims for the record: “For the benefit of the tape in the back of the vehicle I’ve got nine large wrapped packages.
“These are cling wrapped and vacuum-packed. I suspect they’re going to be class A.”
The police reckon they’ve snagged coke worth over three-quarters of a million quid from her motor. The clip also shows Lawrence, cool as a cucumber, merely muttering “ok” as another bobby reads her the riot act.
Hailing from St Neots, Cambs. , Lawrence admitted possession with intent to supply the class A gear and was slapped with a six-year stretch at Stafford Crown Court.
Police discovered a pair of mobile phones, her passport, some brown packaging tape, disposable gloves, scribbled down digits, hotel papers, and £140 in cash.
A raid on her home turned up bank statements that showed Lawrence had been raking in the big bucks over the past year.
Detective Constable Liam O’Brien of the ROCUWM said: “We believe Lawrence was being paid by others to transport these drugs around the country, and investigations into the wider drugs network continue.”
He added: “This was a really significant seizure of Class A drugs – drugs which would have gone on to cause untold misery on the streets of the UK.”
And he stated the squad’s commitment: “We work across the region to disrupt and arrest those involved in the supply and sale of drugs.”
