Driver ‘thinks he is Lewis Hamilton’ with dangerous overtake solely to get ‘prompt justice’
One driver attempted a risk ‘Lewis Hamilton move’ on camera, according to social media users, who bashed them for their dangerous overtaking on a busy city road
Footage captured the moment a motorist carried out a dangerous manoeuvre – but then managed to get caught instantly.
The foolish motorist in question got instant justice as he did a risky double overtake as a police car came along. The brave driver was travelling behind a moped and another car on a residential road, before he decided to carry out the move. However, it did not go to plan as the other car and scooter in front were travelling slowly.
Another issue occurred when the car was forced to go the wrong way around a traffic island before they could pull back in. In the distance another vehicle could be seen coming towards them.
However, the driver got a shock when it was in fact an unmarked police car with its blue flashing lights on. Instantly, they put their blue lights on and pulled the motorist over.
There, he received a harsh talking to and a warning from the police officer.
The incident took place over the weekend in Uxbridge, west London. Locals slammed the driver for the manoeuvre, as reported on NeedToKnow.
One said: “Perfect example of bad timing.” Another added: “More like the perfect time.”
A third joked: “Certain men get stage one and think they’re Lewis Hamilton.” But a fourth noted: “Okay, but what the f*** is the other driver doing?”
The Met Police have been approached for comment regarding the incident.
According to the Highway Code, all drivers must check the following before overtaking. “The road is sufficiently clear ahead, road users are not beginning to overtake you and there is a suitable gap in front of the road user you plan to overtake.”
Technically, you can overtake more than one car at a time, however, drivers must closely assess the road before making a decision. Firstly, there must be a sufficient gap in front of the vehicles you want to pass.
Adding to this, the opposite side of the road must be completely clear, including barriers and road signs.
