A Premier League star’s wife has got his affection fan-given nickname tattooed on her arm, leaving fans in disbelief that it’s real
Joelinton’s wife has an incredible tattoo of the Newcastle United star’s nickname on her arm.
The Geordie favourite married his partner Thays Gondim in May last year after the two had been dating since 2015. Joelinton and Thays have three children together and are in it for the long haul, especially given Thays’ ink work.
Ahead of Newcastle’s FA Cup win over League Two Bromley, Joelinton and Thays enjoyed a date night together at a restaurant, with the Brazilian posting a picture of Thays posing and looking all glammed up during their romantic evening.
But an eagle-eyed fan spotted a tattoo that Thays had on the outside of her arm, just above her elbow. Incredibly, she had ‘Big Joe’ etched on her arm in a nod to her hubby’s affectionate nickname given to him by Newcastle supporters.
Fans on social media lapped up her artwork, with one account of X writing: “What a tattoo his lass has, mind.” A second added: “This is class.” Another Toon fan quipped: “As a tattoo it’s s*** but it’s says big joe so yeah”.
While a fourth admitted he had to make his own checks on the authenticity of the picture, saying: “Went to insta to check, fully expecting this to have been doctored. Sensational”.
Joelinton has become a cult hero at St James’ Park, especially since he was successfully converted to a centre midfield box-to-box talent after failing to justify a fraction of the club record £40million fee that Newcastle paid out on the misfiring striker in 2019.
His rejuvenated career has led to him becoming crucial in Eddie Howe’s side with his dominating midfield presence linking up brilliantly with his fellow countryman Bruno Guimaraes and the most expensive Italian player in history Sandro Tonali.
Joelinton and Thays are said to have met in Brazil, with her becoming his biggest fan as his football journey took him to Hoffenheim in Germany and a loan spell at Rapid Wien, where the couple lived in Vienna.
They welcomed their first child, a boy, in February 2017 before Thays gave birth to a baby girl in October 2022. And in February 2023, the couple held a gender reveal party for their third child on the pitch at St James’ Park.
