Sosandar cashes in on robust demand over Christmas because it targets new shops

Sosandar cashed in on strong demand over Christmas as it plans to open new stores, writes Dan Cannon.

The womenswear brand, based in Wilmslow, Cheshire, said sales of partywear were ‘strong’ over the three months to December 31.

Denim and knitwear also flourished at the company, which was founded by Julie Lavington and Alison Hall in 2015.

Sales dropped 14.6 per cent to £12.2million compared to last Christmas – but this was because it cut down discounts to boost profits. They rose around 50 per cent compared to the first and second quarters.

Shares rallied by 12 per cent as Sosandar said it was on track for £1million annual profits, compared to a £0.3million loss in 2023.

In contrast to the gloom elsewhere on the High Street, the group is opening stores in Harrogate and Bath, adding to the four sites it already has around the UK.
