Gary Pallister wants Manchester United to raid Newcastle for Alexander Isak as boss Ruben Amorim is keen to land a world-class forward as he begins to rebuild his team.

And former United great Pallister believes Swedish hotshot Isak would be the answer with Marcus Rashford seemingly still on the way out of the club, even if his switch to AC Milan hit the skids.

Pallister, a key part of United during the Sir Alex Ferguson golden era, told Betano: “Alexander Isak would immediately improve the Manchester United squad.

“They’re still looking for a player to get them goals – and he looks the finished article and full of confidence.”

Isak has been valued in the £150m bracket following his impressive impact at Newcastle since his arrival in 2022 on a six-year deal for a club-record fee of £63m.

But Pallister believes this shouldn’t be put United off and instead they should be looking to offload Marcus Rashford as he continues to be sidelined by Amorim.

He added: “They’re still looking for a player to get them goals. I’m not sure whether they will fork out £150million, which is what Newcastle want. But he’d be a great signing for any Premier League side.

“It’s a shame the club didn’t try and get the Harry Kane deal done when he was on the market.

“I’d say Isak will be out of the price range for the club, but maybe if something can be done using Marcus Rashford going the other way, I don’t know. The club just need a goalscorer.”
