Mohamed Salah switch method sees Liverpool star set for big contract provide
Mohamed Salah has less than six months left to run on his Liverpool contract and the Egypt international has been in talks with clubs about a free transfer in the summer
Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal are reportedly in talks with Mohamed Salah‘s representatives, preparing to make an offer for the Liverpool ace.
Despite being in top form this season, Salah, 32, has less than six months remaining on his Anfield contract and no new deal has been agreed yet. This leaves him free to negotiate with overseas clubs. Interest from Saudi Arabia is nothing new, with Al-Ittihad having a huge £150million bid rejected for the Egyptian star back in summer 2023.
Al-Hilal, like many Saudi Pro League teams, have long admired Salah and are now ready to put serious money on the table to secure him. As initially reported by L’Equipe, Al-Hilal have re-established contact with Salah’s team to discuss the possibility of him playing in Saudi Arabia next season.
They anticipate parting ways with Neymar at the end of the season, which will free up a significant amount of money and crucially, a spot for another foreign player. Neymar, plagued by injuries during his costly stint in Saudi, is looking to move.
He’s currently in discussions with three MLS teams about a potential move to America this year, expressing a desire to join Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at Inter Miami – although it’s understood they’re not one of the three teams he’s talking to at this stage.
The Egyptian forward revealed earlier in the month that negotiations over a new contract have stalled, with Salah admitting: “There is nothing, no progress there. We are far away from any progress so we just need to wait and see.”
When pressed on his future, he fueled concerns he could depart by once more hinting this could be his final season at Anfield. Salah added: “I think the thing in my head is OK if this is your last six months or last year, what do you want to see in the future? Do you want to look back and say, ‘Ih I was concerned about the contract or stressed? ‘ or do you just want to say, ‘Ok I had an unbelievable season’.
“So that is in my head now. If I feel a kind of distraction I just remind myself, ‘OK you want to look back and say I had an unbelievable season’, so that’s what I want to do.”
