Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid is a DONE DEAL, claims newspaper closest to the European champions, as they aim one other big-name free switch
Trent Alexander-Arnold‘s move to Real Madrid is done, according to reports in Spain, with Carlo Ancelotti‘s side set to decide over a winter or summer transfer.
Liverpool star Alexander-Arnold, 26, has been the subject of intense speculation in recent times, with the defender – alongside Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah – out of contract at the end of the season.
Liverpool remain in negotiations with all three stars, but no breakthrough has been made as the months tick by, and the players are able to speak to overseas clubs about joining on a free transfer in the summer.
Alexander-Arnold’s future has come under considerable scrutiny, with the 26-year-old heavily linked with Real, who saw a £20million bid rejected earlier in the window.
Now, according to Spanish outlet Marca, the Liverpool defender has verbally agreed to a move to the Bernabeu – it’s just a matter of when the transfer will come.
The England international will be able to join Madrid for free should he wait to until the summer, but the Spanish side remain keen on bringing him in during January.

And, while Los Blancos pursue a deal for Alexander-Arnold, the outlet also claim that Madrid are lining up a move for Bayern Munich full-back Alphonso Davies.
The Canadian left-back’s current deal with the Bundesliga giants expires in summer and talks over an extension have long stalled.
Davies is now free to negotiate with clubs outside Germany, with Real Madrid favourites to land him on a free transfer at the end of the season.
The outlet claim that there’s been no progress in Davies’ contract negotiations at Bayern, with Madrid confident that he will instead sign a deal with them.
Davies joined Bayern in 2018 and has made 218 appearances for the club, while he has scored 12 goals.
During his time at the Bavarian giants, Davies has won the Champions League, five Bundesliga titles, the DFB-Pokal and the Club World Cup.
A move on a free transfer would similarly follow the club’s strategy in recent windows after David Alaba, Antonio Rudiger and Kylian Mbappe all moved to the Bernabeu at the end of their contracts.
Alexander-Arnold, meanwhile, has remained tight-lipped on his future, with his last public quotes on the topic coming in September.

There has been a clamour for reinforcements at Real after their Super Cup defeat by Barcelona
‘I want to be a Liverpool player this season (as a minimum) is what I will say,’ he explained.
‘Look, I have been at the club 20 years now, I have signed four or five contract extensions, none of those have been played out in public, and this one won’t be either.’
Alexander-Arnold was last in action on Tuesday when he played the full 90 minutes of Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Nottingham Forest.
The Reds, who sit four points clear at the top of the table, return to action on Saturday with a trip to Brentford.
