Miniscule London bedsit with a single mattress simply inches from the kitchen goes in the marketplace for £1,100 a month
A bedsit in central London has gone on the market for a whopping £1,100 a month – but the tenant will be sleeping on a single bed placed just inches from the kitchen.
The cramped accommodation is in a prime location in Sussex Gardens, near Paddington Station in London.
Photos show a single bed placed on a narrow strip of worn carpet, next to the ‘kitchen’, which runs along the wall.
The room consists of a sink with storage, a fridge, and a small grill with a hob on top.
At the foot of the bed is a wardrobe, and a door leads to what appears to be a shared bathroom.
The humble room has a shower, toilet, basin and mirror, with a sign on the wall implying it is a communal space.
The listing, shared on OpenRent describes it as a ‘delightful room’ in a ‘great location’ and while it is advertised for one person the landlord has said that ‘families are welcome.
While the room itself is rather lacklustre, it will place the new tenant right in the thick of it in a prime spot in the capital.

The room, which has a maximum occupancy of one person, is available from this week (January 14) at a price of £1,105 per month with bills included.
As well as the station nearby, the bedsit is also close to Hyde Park and has other tourist hotspots within short walking distance, reports Luxury Property.
Earlier today the MailOnline reported another Lonond landlord, Alice Bowmer, had listed a tiny room in her £800,000 home for an eyewatering £1,557 a month.
In her listing, Ms Bowmer told prospective renters they are banned from her living room – and must restrict themselves to the bedroom, the kitchen and the bathroom.
She requested that hopeful tenants work ‘longish hours in the city during the week’, leave London during weekends and avoid having guests or using the living room.
Also, the property does not have central heating and the listing said the lodger must instead use an electric heater ‘that can set via a timer on your phone.’
She asked that their potential ‘lodger’ be ‘a quiet, clean and friendly person.
Alongside the strict rules, Ms Bowmer boasted ‘lots of little independent shops, coffee places’ as well as an M&S and several nearby parks.

The post, which has now been viewed nearly a million times, includes a link to the listing – though this appears to have been altered since making it onto X.
The original listing – as revealed by screenshots on X – stated that the landlord was looking for ‘a lodger’ to share their ‘lovely flat’ in the South End Green, Gospel Oak area.
However, it appears as though changes have since been made to the advert, with references to house guests, curfew and noise, no longer in the property description.
In the updated advert, the landlord described themselves as: ‘I am a very friendly, tidy, quiet, clean and hard working person. I would like to share with someone who complements this.’
Commenters on the post were outraged by the ‘exploitative’ listing that insisted tenants be ‘banished from actually living there’.
One enraged viewer wrote: ‘This ‘free market’ attitude is pathetic, this shouldn’t be legal. Completely exploitative, selfish and attempting to take advantage of renter’s desperation to squeeze money out of a tenant while banishing them from actually living there. Total scum landlord.’
