Manchester City bosses gave a rousing speech to club staff and assured them new signings would be made to save the team’s season.

Director of football Txiki Begiristain and chief executive Ferran Soriano addressed CFA and stadium employees this week in a bid to boost morale. And the duo told them superstar signings were on the cusp of being completed – as part of a spending spree aimed at breathing new life into Pep Guardiola’s flagging side.

These include the imminent arrivals of Omar Marmoush, Vitor Reis and Abdukodir Khusanov. While City are also closing in on a deal to land Juventus full-back Andrea Cambiaso on a long-term contract. If City complete all four deals it will mean they have spent more than £150m in the space of a week.

Reis and Khusanov landed in Manchester on Thursday to undergo medicals, while City have agreed a five-year contract with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Egyptian striker Marmoush. It’s understood City bosses also said the club is keen to sign a holding midfielder before the transfer window closes.
