Dele Alli has a new club, with the 28-year-old now looking to revive his once-sparkling career.

Plagued by injuries, the ex-Everton star has not played in a competitive game since putting on his boots for Besiktas in February 2023 against Antalyaspor.

At 28, having clocked up only 13 appearances for the Toffees following his switch from Spurs in early 2022, and then being shown the door last summer, Alli had been staying match fit at Everton’s Finch Farm.

However, he now has been thrown a career lifeline after it was confirmed he had signed with Serie A Como, who are managed by ex-Arsenal star Cesc Fabregas.

Alli, who was training with Como in December, has signed an 18-month contract with the Italian side, who confirmed he had joined the club on Sunday.

Writing on their official club website, Como said: “Como 1907 has officially announced the signing of England international Dele Alli on an 18-month contract, with an option to extend for an additional 12 months. The club recognizes his exceptional talent and is excited to bring him into the team.

“The focus will be on providing Dele with a supportive environment where he can gradually integrate into the squad.

“While there will be no immediate performance expectations, the club is confident that he will make a significant contribution both on the pitch and as a mentor to the club’s young talents, including Nico Paz, Alieu Fadera, Assane Diao, Maxence Caqueret, Máxi Perrone and Lucas Da Cunha.”

Fabregas added: “The club believes in Dele’s potential and is committed to helping him rediscover his best form. His experience and leadership qualities will undoubtedly benefit the squad.”

With Dele’s wealth of experience, Como 1907 anticipates that his presence will inspire and elevate the team to new heights. The club looks forward to the positive impact he will bring on and off the pitch.”

Once viewed as a generational talent, the former Spurs star burst onto the scene under the tutelage of Mauricio Pochettino. He scored 67 goals and registered 61 assists in 269 games during his time at Spurs.

However, the 28-year-old has also spoken candidly about his struggles off the field too. Speaking to Gary Neville back in 2023, Alli revealed in an emotional interview he had been sexually abused when he was six, and got involved in dealing drugs at eight.

He also explained how he spent time in rehab to recover from an addiction to sleeping pills and that he wants to make a comeback on the international stage by playing for England at the 2026 World Cup next summer.
