Four people have been arrested in connection with the death of a missing dad who could “light up a room.”

Kevin Coates was last seen in Darwen, Lancashire on January 7. His body was found in woodland a week later on January 14.

Now four people – including a woman in her 50s – are being quizzed by police. Relatives said the “much loved” 43-year-old was “gentle” and would “light up a room.”

After an initial postmortem, Lancashire Police said further investigations are necessary to determine the cause of the dad’s death.

A 56-year-old woman and three men, aged 37, 43, and 53, have been released on bail while enquiries continue.

Reports suggest that Kevin may have been assaulted at his home before he disappeared. The local police force, having had prior interactions with Kevin, has made a self-referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, the Mirror reports.

In a heartfelt statement released by the authorities, Kevin’s family expressed their profound loss: “Kevin was a much-loved brother, father, son and uncle who touched the hearts and souls of everyone he met.

“He would light up the room. He was a gentle person with a big heart and a lovely nature. As a family, we are absolutely heartbroken. Kevin – this is not a goodbye but a see you later.”
