Lewis Hamilton has taken to social media to reveal his honest feelings on his move to Ferrari that surprised fans.

The 7x World Champion had driven for Mercedes across twelve seasons. Before his final season even started, fans were stunned at the news that Hamilton would join Ferrari. Mercedes Team Principal Toto Wolff found out that Hamilton was leaving really late and didn’t have ‘any time to react.’

The British driver left the team during a difficult period for Mercedes. When the new rules were brought in at the beginning of 2022, the Brackley-based team failed to catch up. Teams like Red Bull and Ferrari who were once chasing Mercedes were now the leaders.

Now, Hamilton is an official Ferrari driver and he shared his first day at the famous Prancing Horse’s factory in Maranello on Instagram. He can be seen wearing a ‘Godfather-esque’ outfit whilst standing next to a Ferrari F40 which would set you back well over £1m.

He captioned the post: “There are some days that you know you’ll remember forever and today, my first as a Ferrari driver, is one of those days.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have achieved things in my career I never thought possible, but part of me has always held on to that dream of racing in red. I couldn’t be happier to realise that dream today.

“Today we start a new era in the history of this iconic team, and I can’t wait to see what story we will write together.”

Underneath his caption, Hamilton also wrote it in Italian as he will now have a completely new fanbase in Italy iconically known as the Tifosi.

His new contract with Ferrari is speculated to be worth an eye-watering £50-£55m a year. The length of the deal is unknown, however, with Hamilton being 40-years-old now, it could likely push to three years.
