Horrific CCTV footage captures hit-and-run in Hull
Horrifying video footage has captured the moment a woman was catapulted 30 metres across a road by a hit-and-run driver.
The 42-year-old victim sustained life-altering injuries after being hit by an Audi A3, which was speeding at over 45mph in Hull, East Yorkshire. The chilling clip shows the woman attempting to cross Princess Avenue, a street known for its bustling bars and pubs, when she is brutally struck by the Audi, sending her flying through the air as onlookers watch in shock.
Following the incident, the woman required three surgeries to address a range of injuries including a fractured spine, broken leg, torn ligament, and dislocated knee, according to police reports.
The driver, identified as 36-year-old Luke Gough, fled the scene immediately after the crash, leaving his car burnt out just half a mile away from the site of the accident, which occurred on July 31, 2022.
Police noted that the black Audi had sustained front-end damage consistent with hitting a pedestrian.
Gough was later apprehended and charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

On Monday (January 20), he received a five-and-a-half-year prison sentence at Hull Crown Court and was handed a lifetime driving ban after pleading guilty to the charge.
His passenger, 31-year-old Gemma Johnson, admitted to perverting the course of justice and was given a nine-month suspended sentence for two years.
Authorities revealed that the vehicle had been clocked travelling at speeds exceeding 45mph down Princes Avenue, a designated 30mph zone, at the time of the collision.

Upon arresting the pair, officers discovered a shard of glass in the washing machine that matched a sample retrieved from the damaged car.
During a detailed inspection of the Audi, investigators found a blood spot that was conclusively linked to Gough.
PC Fiona Graham of Humberside Police expressed her thoughts following the sentencing: “Both Gough and Johnson demonstrated a complete disregard for the safety of the woman and other pedestrians that day.
“I still cannot comprehend that they actively decided to continue driving off at speed, even after striking the woman with such force she was thrown a significant distance into the air before hitting the ground. This was a truly shocking incident, and their reckless actions could have easily resulted in further casualties. It is purely a matter of luck that this incident did not result in a fatality.”
