Jaw-dropping TV presenter Diletta Leotta was hoping Loris Karius would move to Italy.

The Liverpool flop was left without a contract after his spell at Newcastle came to an end, and he has now found a new club in the form of 2.Bundesliga side Schalke 04. However, it’s safe to say Diletta won’t be pitching up in Gelsenkirchen.

“Of course she was hoping a little for Italy,” Karius joked after signing, via BILD. The pair have been dating since 2022, after meeting in Paris, and they have a daughter together, Aria.

And the stunning Italian will remain in her hometown of Milan with her young daughter as Karius turns out for Schalke.

“I explained it to her,” Karius continued, explaining Diletta had been OK with the move. “She wishes me the best in my career and said she is fully behind it.”

“Milan is not far away. We can find ways to solve it. She has a lot to do too, so we will both be commuting back and forth a bit…If your partner is also in the public eye, it’s clear that something will be reported. But I never actively pushed myself into it. For me, the sport was always the priority.”

Diletta is a star in her own right – and she is often on TV screens in Italy, where she works for DAZN.

Opening up on the move, he added: “Ultimately, you’re a professional to play, and it was important to me to find a club where I have a chance to play again.

“If you haven’t played regularly in recent years, you don’t get anything for free in professional sport. It would be naive to say that I’m going somewhere and will immediately be No.1.”
