Ipswich star Wes Burns strechered off in opposition to Liverpool after collapsing to the bottom
Ipswich’s Wes Burns was strechered off against Liverpool after collapsing to the ground in pain.
The Tractor Boys star, 30, had been left in pain and required lengthy treatment following a challenge with the Reds’ Cody Gakpo. Medical staff were quick to the scene and they appeared to assess Burns’ knee.
Treatment went on for around five minutes, as a strecher was produced and Burns taken off the field. “Burns is down on the pitch and it looks like a stretcher will be needed,” Ipswich’s X account posted before he was replaced by Ben Johnson.
“Hope the injury to Wes isn’t too bad. Wishing him a full & speedy recovery,” one fan posted. While a second shared: “Get well soon! Looked a real nasty one!”
“Could be an ACL that, hopefully not. Best wishes,” a third sighed. And another added: “Hopefully it is not as serious as it looks. Hope he gets well soon!”

Ipswich were already one goal down when Burns hit the ground clutching his knee – with Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai breaking the deadlock in the 11th minute of their clash.
Mohamed Salah then doubled the Reds’ lead, and there was more to come for the Tractor Boys as Cody Gakpo, who was involved in the clash with Burns, added the Reds’ third with a strike on the stroke of half-time.
Burns joined Ipswich in from Fleetwood in 2021 – and he has been a key player in their meteoric rise from League One to the Premier League.
In that periord he has pulled on an Ipswich shirt 144 times, finding the net on 28 occassions.
