Luke Littler new girlfriend declare as Michael van Gerwen drops trace at Dutch Darts Masters
Michael van Gerwan has revealed the relationship status of darts prodigy Luke Littler, who beat the Dutchman earlier this month to claim the PDC World Darts Championship crown
Darts star Michael van Gerwen has dropped a hint that Luke Littler might just be back on the market.
The 18-year-old has been turning heads at the oche, having shot to fame by reaching the PDC World Darts Championship final at the tender age of 16 and seizing the crown this year on his second go. Van Gerwen, aged 35, is well aware of Littler’s prowess, having been bested by him in the final showdown at Alexandra Palace earlier this month.
It seems Van Gerwen is also clued up about ‘The Nuke’s’ love life. During his initial surge to the final, Littler was romantically linked with Eloise Milburn, but the couple called it quits last July.
Speculation was rife in October when fans suspected Littler might have let slip about a new flame after a woman’s voice was overheard during his livestream with YouTuber Morgan Burtwistle, aka ‘Angry Ginge’. Fast forward three months, and Van Gerwen has suggested that Littler’s single status means he’s free from the extra stress that comes with having a family, reports the Mirror.
Ahead of their clash in the Dutch Masters, Van Gerwen shared with Online Darts: “I think he is a good enough darts player to deal with those circumstances. He’s not really thinking about anything yet. He’s still at home with his parents, doesn’t have kids, doesn’t have a girlfriend yet. So, it’s an easy life.”
The truth behind Van Gerwen’s assertions remains locked with Littler himself. Darts fans were abuzz with speculation that he might have unintentionally introduced a new flame after a woman’s voice emerged during his livestream alongside Burtwistle, saying: “I’m gonna try and get some sleep because I’m so tired.”
When Burtwistle immediately pressed for an answer about the mystery voice, Littler retorted: “Your chat is going mad, F*** off. If someone has screen-recorded that, it’s in the papers in the morning. Yep, well played. Why’s the volume all the way up, you f***ing idiot?”
Despite staying mum about the identity of his companion or his relationship status, Littler suggested that he’s on the market, humorously mentioning he’s not short on prospects if he fancied diving into another romance.
Littler shared with the Mail: “Extra attention comes with me winning the world title and certain reporting restrictions are lifted at the age of 18 so that will have an impact. And if I keep winning, I’m not making it easier for myself, am I?
“I have had a few requests from girls to meet up. But I generally don’t reply. It’s just people looking at me and the money I am making, and they want part of that.
“My mum and dad told me to keep the friends I have. Give it a few years and I may meet someone along the way. I have a couple of good friends from school and a few friends from different schools.
“They are doing well. They have apprenticeships, at Asda or McDonald’s, or want to be plumbers or electricians. All have good jobs and are trying to make money for themselves.”
Littler secured his spot in the upcoming round of the Dutch Masters with a 6-4 victory over Dimitri van den Bergh, setting the stage for a showdown with teen sensation Littler after Van Gerwen triumphed against Dirk van Duijvenbode.
