Olympic icon ‘airlifted to hospital’ after horror crash in entrance of terrified spouse

Olympic icon Alexis Pinturault was airlifted to hospital following a horror crash.
Pinturault, 33, was taking part in an Alpine skiing World Cup super-G in Kitzbühel, Austria, when he suffered the terryfing crash. The Frenchman required urgent medical attention when he collided with a gate.
He amnaged to get back onto his feet, but quickly collpased back down into the snow. Pinturault’s wife, Romane, watched on in horror – alongside their three-year-old daugther, as the Frenchman was airlifted off the mountain and to hospital.
The French Ski Federation have since confirmed that Pinturault has suffered a significant bone bruise on the medial tibial plateau, along with a small fracture and an injury to the medial meniscus.
“After a fall during the Wengen Super G, Alexis Pinturault suffered a left knee (injury) and has pain in his wrist. He was airlifted to Interlaken to undergo examination. He did not lose consciousness.”
In a further post on X, formerly known as Twitter, they added: “He will be moved to France for further assessment and should soon meet the surgeon. His season is unfortunately over.”
It will come as big blow to Pinturault, who suffered a simiarly horryfing injury that ended his season this time last year. On that occasion Pinturault tore his left ACL in a 50m fall that also required him to be airlifted to hospital.
Marco Odermatt,who went on to win the super-G, opened up about Pinturault’s injury after the even, he explaining that it’s hard to see so soon after his recovery from his ACL issue. He said: “It hurts extremely if you know a little bit about Alexis’ story.”
Pinturault is a three-time Olympian; claiming bronze in the Men’s Giant Slalom at the Sochi 2014 games and the Pyeong Chang 2018 games, as well as winning silver for Men’s Alpine Combined in 2018.
