Rugby league star caught on digicam performing intercourse act on buddy’s spouse behind Greggs will get engaged

A rugby league star who was caught on camera performing a sex act on a friend’s wife in an alleyway behind a Greggs store has found love again and got engaged to local estate agent.

Joe Westerman faced national shame and humiliation after being dumped by his wife when the clip went viral.

The 34-year-old was fined by his Super League club Castleford Tigers and blamed alcohol for the drunken encounter last February.

His shocked wife Lauren kicked him out and immediately ended their nine-year marriage.

A year on from the incident, Westerman has announced he is engaged to mother-of-two Alison Hopkinson.

The pair got together in the months after Westerman was ridiculed by fans over the drunken encounter in his hometown.

Photos of the engagement celebrations were posted by estate agent Alison to her social media.

One showed a heart shaped ballon with a bottle of champagne and the sparkling ring while in the other Westerman and 35 year old Alison and posed up together.

The couple began dating six months after the rugby star’s night of shame.

The drunken 6ft 4in forward was filmed performing a sex act on a ‘friend’s wife’ after a night out in Pontefract town centre a year ago.

He was then left humiliated when a graphic seven second clip showing him with his trousers down was posted to social media.

He issued a grovelling apology in which he vowed to ‘work on my decision-making around alcohol’ and was fined and ordered to do community work by his club.

But that was nothing compared to the fury he faced from his wife Lauren back home.

In texts to the mother of three he claimed not remember anything about the incident.

He texted: ‘Words will never ever explain how sorry I am. I can’t explain what happened cos I physically can’t remember. It’s disgusting and I now have to live with it forever. Losing you and the kids is heart-breaking Lauren, you deserve so much better.’

Adding: ‘You always said alcohol would f*** me up. Story of my life. I miss you like crazy. U was perfect. I need you to know I can’t remember anything about that night. I look like a zombie.’

But his grovelling apology didn’t work and he was thrown out by his furious wife who was unable to stop her 14-year-old daughter seeing the video.

She said she would never take back her cheating husband ‘one trillion per cent’ and said she felt sorry for her children and those of the woman involved.

Lauren said:’ What kind of example would I be setting to my children – particularly my girls – if I were to give it another go?

‘I want them to know that this is not alright, that it isn’t acceptable behaviour in a relationship and that we all have self-worth.

‘I now have to think about my children and begin rebuilding our future together. It’s daunting, but he’s got no one to blame but himself.’

She added: ‘Truth is, he only told me because it was on social media. But I’m glad it was found because the thought of kissing him after that just makes me feel sick.’

Six months after being caught with his trousers down Westerham was seen out and about with Mrs Hopkinson, who was estranged from her husband Carl.

He posed with the attractive blonde at Pontefract races and put a love heart emoji next to her name.

Westerham remained playing with Castleford Tiger and this weekend a testimonial match against Hull will take place to celebrate his 17 years as a player.
