Locksmith will get locked out of his personal van…after his French bulldog stands on button controlling the doorways
A locksmith was locked out of his own van after his dog accidentally trod on the central locking button.
Peter Macann, 31, was on his way to help a client earlier this month when he stopped to put air in his tyres at a service station.
Mr Macann, who hadn’t been a locksmith for long, said one of his French bulldogs inside the van stood on the central locking button on January 11.
Because his only set of keys was in the ignition, this left him locked out of this van – with all of his tools in his van.
In a panic, the 31-year-old, from East Dereham, Norfolk, turned to Facebook to make a plea for help.
He told the BBC: ‘I’m a 24-hour locksmith so I had a job at about 21:00, and I went to put air in the tyres, went to pay for it, got back and I just couldn’t get in,’ he said.
‘I didn’t want to call another locksmith or tell my customer I had locked myself out of my van.’
He added that during his ordeal, his dogs were ‘completely unbothered’.

Mr Macann, who works for Lockify 24 Hour Locksmith, was locked out of his van after one of the dogs trod on the central locking system

According to the worker, his dogs were ‘completely unbothered’
He turned to the social media group for help, explaining that he was a locksmith.
Many commented on his posts, with one saying: ‘One tool is left standing outside in the cold.’
Fortunately for him, the dogs Bella and Vinnie came to his rescue, again by accident, by somehow standing on the button again.
Mr Macann admitted he was embarrassed to tell the customer that evening why he was running late, blaming it on the traffic.
The Lockify 24 Hour Locksmith worker has learned his lesson and said he will now be carrying a second set of keys.
Furthermore, his dog often travelled in the car with a harness, but he would now be ‘extra vigilant’ that they were strapped in.
While there is no specific law about how a dog should travel, RAC advises drivers to use a proper harness or dog seat belt to secure animals and prevent them from moving around a vehicle.
